Rick S. Bowron, Vietnam Veteran, Rochester MN, 15 AUG 09

A group of Patriots met to stand in Honor of an American Hero Rick S. Bowron Saturday August 15. Mr. Bowron, the recipient of the Bronze Star for Valor, Combat Iinfantry Badge, Air Medal,Viet Nam Service Medal. The Patriot Guard arrived one and then another and another in the steamy heat of this August morning. The Patriot Guard proudly and silently stood our flag line when his son Chris arrived he was visibly thankful and said his "Dad is looking down on us with a big smile".

A few members went inside for the Service as many of the Patriot Guard knew Mr. Bowron. We heard the many Eulogies from Family and friends. It was apparent that he left many loving family members and friends. There were stories from when he was a kid to the Viet Nam war to recent things. Stories of riding his motorcycle. If you were with him, everyone had a good time. He loved everything from sports to music to cars and bikes and in the process touching many live's.

During the service we repositioned our bikes for the escort and everyone stood the flag line in their respective position with where their bike . As the family entered the limousines we walked in two single file lines to our bikes and secured our flags. We then stood facing the family until all were ready to depart. Some of the friends joined us at the back of the escort. It was Mr. Bowron's wish to go past Mayo Field a local ball park where he had played Baseball so we honored that wish and proceeded to the cemetery.

The Rochester V.F.W. provided the military honors and Olmsted Co. Deputy Sheriff Torgerson played Taps. With the Patriot Guard plague presented to Chris Bowron (son), the family and friends slowly departed.

Rick may have departed from our daily live's, but Rick and his service to our country will NEVER be forgotten.
