William Cline USN Veteran, Minneapolis, MN, 13 APR 10

Fifteen Patriot Guard gathered at the Officers Club, eight were on bike and came from nearby or from the south, Those who came from the north came in cages and drove through thunderstorms and heavy rain to get there. The group traversed to Assembly area 3.

The mission was dry but looked as if it could change quickly so I monitored a weather channel and watched for lightning while at FSNC with the intention that if there would be lightning our flags and poles would need to go down. We then would just stand in honor and I would apologize to the family and explain the reason.

The mission was at Shelter #1 Shelter #6, we were told #1, but when we got to it the grounds keeper told us they moved it to #6, At the shelter we had 6 members along the road and the rest surrounded the shelter which looked very nice. The family had their own Honor Guard so we just followed their lead when giving honors.

Many told us that “Bill would have loved this”.
