Daniel M. DeFoe, 61, Vietnam Veteran/PGR member, Shoreview, MN, 10 DEC 08

We lined the front of the funeral home with over 25 Patriot Guard members honoring our fallen Vietnam Veteran Hero and fellow PGR member. The wind was cold and blowing and our American flags snapped to attention in honor of Lt. DeFoe. Family and friends gathered to remember and celebrate the life of Daniel M. DeFoe as he was a father, brother and Hero to many, he will be missed but not forgotten. At the end of the visitation we were invited in to pay our respects to our fallen comrade. We entered as one large group with our flags in hand as we viewed the memorial of pictures put together by the family. We then entered the heroes room for a moment of silence, then as a group viewing our American hero Lt. Daniel M. DeFoe as he rests in full uniform we stated The Pledge of Allegiance. We stood observing one more moment of silence, then quietly we left the building to resume our post outside until all the family had departed. I want to thank all the Patriot Guard members who were able to attend this mission as you already know how much this meant to the family by the words expressed to us there. You do make a difference.
