On July 3rd, 2008 29 members of the Patriot Guard assembled in Waseca, Minnesota to honor WWII veteran David E. Dunlap, the Grandfather of PGR member Linda Pesheck. Flag line was posted at 8:45 am, and all were standing tall as the family and friends arrived at Faith United Methodist Church. A more perfect day could not have been ordered. Just enough of a breeze to move our flags and mild temps. The PGR members stood for Mr. Dunlap for close to 2 hours. After the service started they then took a well deserved break, but assembled once again to honor him and his family as he was brought out of the church. The family requested a private graveside service. They departed the church with Linda Pesheck and her husband Phil leading the way on their motorcycles. The funeral procession from the church to the gravesite happened to pass by Mr. Dunlaps home. Four members of the PGR were standing in the front yard of the home holding flags. This surprise was very well received by the family.

Note from Linda & Phil Peschek:

On behalf of the family, we would like to express our deepest thanks and gratitude to the Patriot Guard and it's members who stood in honor of our father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother, David Dunlap.

Family members were in absolute awe of the respect and honor that you bestowed upon my grandfather and the pride you instilled in our family and guests. My grandfather was known by family and friends for talking a lot. During the gravesite service, the minister, in recognition of the tribute and honor shown by the Patriot Guard, the VFW Color Guard and the buglers, reflected that, for the first time ever, David would have been rendered speechless.

Again, we want to extend our special thanks and appreciation to the Patriot Guard for being there for us and for making the day special. The family will never forget the memories you have given us.

With our deepest appreciation,

Linda & Phil
