Ride Report - Eden Prairie Veterans Memorial Dedication
Sunday 9 November 2008

Ten members, two came by bike (same bike). Light snow falling, temp 22. At 10 am the bike rode over and parked on the sidewalk in front of the memorial. The rest of us walked the short distance to the memorial. People were already arriving for the dedication but it was to early to take our place at the memorial, so we spaced ourselves along the main walk leading to it. We had one member at the end of the walk which was at the street corner. Lots of honking, waves, and thumbs up from people driving by.

The scheduled 10:30 music was cancelled due to the below 35 degree weather, so we maintained our main walk positions until 10:50. We then took our ceremony positions along the walk by the lake. The ceremony started at 11, the vintage plane missing man fly over was awesome. We stood through it the whole 1.5 hours till the end at which point the members were dismissed.

What a hearty group we have, they brave the cold without batting an eyelash (course it is kind of hard to bat frozen eyelids to start with). The event was a success even in the cold, I would guess that there were about 2-300 people attending the ceremony.
