Eddie Jokela, WWII Veteran, Park Rapids, MN, 26 JAN 10

Seventeen Patriot Guard from the Detroit Lakes, Brainerd, Bemidji and Thief River Falls sectors honored WWII Veteran 1SG Eddie's Jokela's service to our country. 1SG Jokela was a founding father of the 10th Mountain Division and his family said he was always very proud of his military service and of all who have served. Military Honors were provided by the Marine Corps League 1109 in Park Rapids

Flag line was set at 11:00 for visitation. We stood down during the service for coffee and cookies provided by the church in a warm room, as temps were below zero with wind chill. Flag line was reformed after the service and we were joined by honor guards and family for transfer into the waiting vehicle. Family and friends then returned into the church for a luncheon and we were provided with cake and bars. We departed to a beautiful resting place in the country, about 15 miles away, and set up flag line waiting for family and friends to arrive. Mission was complete once family and friends departed the cemetary.
