Vernon R. Olson, Army, WWII, Camp Ripley, MN. 20 May 10

29 PGR members gathered at the State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley on May 20th to honor Vernon Olson. He served with the Army in WWII and with the USAF in Korea. The sun shone brightly as we stood the flag line for this great Veteran. We were surprised by a C130 flyover and two Bald Eagles. The Color Guard paid tribute with the presentation of the flag, rifle salute, and the playing of taps. The family wished to follow to the grave site so we set up a double flag line to provide a corridor for their passage. Everything came off very well and the family was so appreciative. It was a great honor for us to pay tribute to Vernon and to his family. Post mission briefing was nearby at the Canteen.
