Mike Ose, USMC Veteran, LEO (ret), Redwood Falls, MN, 08 JUN 09

Shortly after being notified by a PGR member of Mike Ose's untimely death, I received an official request from his family to attend his visitation with our flag line. Meeting at 4:00 pm at the Redwood Valley Funeral Home, we had all good intentions of having our flag line in place by the time the family of Mike Ose arrived. Instead, they walked across the street and joined us during our mission briefing, and warmly greeted those members that they knew, and introduced themselves to the rest of us, and thanked us over and over again for our presence. PGR member Brian Sams reflected on his working relationship with Mike Ose when he served under him on the Redwood Falls Police Force, and I read one of the postings on the national mission thread from a former Redwood Falls "juvenile delinquent" who turned his life around with Mike Ose's help. The family was later able to meet this person, as he now is one of our PGR members, and he arrived later and joined our flag line. This is his posting:

Mike was truely a hero. Without him I would not be where I am today. I thank his family for all they have given as he worked long days and nights with the Rwf. police dept. He truly saved my life, as many years ago I was on the other side of his gun. well I learned a lesson that every dumb kid should learn, and I thank my teacher for his understanding. Mike will be missed and know this is one life he touched and saved. with all my respect

Twenty one members in all, from the Worthington, Willmar, and Marshall sectors, were able to attend the "Come when you can, Leave when you must" visitation," and we were warmly greeted by many of the hundreds of mourners who paid their respects to the family of Mike Ose, which helped take the chill off most of us suffered riding over to Redwood Falls on a cool and cloudy June afternoon. At one time there were so many people attending, that the line stretched all the way out into the drive, and many stories about Mike Ose were shared. The sun finally popped out right at the end of our watch, and we stood down and a dozen of us met at the Club 101 in North Redwood for lunch and fellowship.

God Bless the life, service, and memory of Marine Veteran and Law Enforcement Officer Mike Ose.
