What a great feeling to be a part of such a mission. Mike Peters whose wife sadly has already passed, was honored today in rural Palisade at Hill Top Chapel. Mike's proud family consisting of three daughters and several grand daughters were present along with many other friends and relatives. in this little country chapel. I truly believe even the young grand daughters caught the concept of how all these strangers (16 PGR) were there to pay honor to their grampy. The Aitkin VFW Post was there to give the full military honor to a USMC veteran who was so deserving of the recognition. With all the conflicts on a week end like this we were truly proud to stand with 16 members, two of which were on their very first mission to honor Mike. The family was very grateful that we were able to respond in such a short notice. It takes so little of our time and means so much to them. The smile on their face and the nod of their head is all we need to do what we do.
